Bangkok
Met a girl the previous day called
Darcy. We got on well and decided to go to
Ayuthaya together.
As Darcy wrote in her email to her friends, it was a day of perfect contrasts between English reserve and politeness and, well, the New York way. While I would always try and talk my way out of trouble with a smile and a (contrived) story, Darcy would just ignore the situation and continue walking. By the end of the day I'd come round to her way of thinking....
We were due to catch the 8:20am train but the cab driver decided that as we asked for the meter to be turned on he was going to get his money's worth out of us one way or the other! We missed the train...
When we eventually got to Ayuthaya we walked round some of the sites before hiring a couple of bicycles. Ayuthaya was a bit disappointing really. Once you have seen one temple in Bangkok, you've seen them all. It was a fun day out though. Needless to say, we missed the train back too!
